Grapevine bud dissection is a direct assessment of how seasonal environmental conditions and management practices have influenced bud development. Determining the number of flower clusters (Bud Fruitfulness), incidence of Primary Bud Necrosis (PBN) and presence of Bud Mite (Colomerus vitis) from a representative sample allows vignerons to better prepare for the coming season.
Two bud dissection options are presented according to the nature of information you require. The first is a Primary Bud Necrosis (PBN) and Bud Mite scan, whereby the incidence and likely consequences of both is recorded and presented in a concise report. The second analysis option is more comprehensive, incorporating Bud Fruitfulness and pruning recommendations with findings for PBN and Bud Mite in a comprehensive report. Regardless of which option you choose, the fee charged includes sample collection, dissection analysis, reporting and a face-to-face discussion of results - so you are able to ask further questions or raise other concerns as the results are presented.
